Treating kids—let’s be honest—is way more fun than treating adults! You never know what they’ll say or do!

My team and I cater to each patient’s individual anxieties and needs and make those twice-yearly visits fun and stress-free. We shower the kids with prizes and balloon animals, allow the parents to accompany their children at every step, and educate parents and kids about upcoming developmental milestones and optimal oral hygiene. Nearly every day, we hear that one of our patients could not wait to come to the dentist and cheered when they got in the car for their appointment. It is so rewarding to know that we can help shape people’s perception of dentistry from such an early age.

EDUCATION AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

I received my undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and then completed my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. I went on to pursue a two-year pediatric dental residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

As a board-certified pediatric dentist, I have committed myself to excellence in the pursuit of pediatric dentistry. Just ask my wife—she thinks I’m a total nerd because I love learning and researching new techniques in dentistry in my spare time.

To stay current with the most up-to-date pediatric research in materials and technology, I attend the yearly conference of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and participate in year-round continuing education with local dental study groups. Doing this, I can ensure that our patients receive the best care that’s backed by the most current research.

IN THE COMMUNITY

My dedication to children’s health extends beyond our office’s doors. During February (which is National Children’s Dental Health Month), I visit more than 1100 kids in preschools in our community to teach the importance of oral health and hygiene. It’s always fun to hear the kids’ questions and comments!

Personally, I’m active in my church, I’m an Eagle Scout, and have been involved with scouting much of my life.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. My family and I lived in Cincinnati for two years during my pediatric dental residency, then moved to Texas for a three-year commitment with the Air Force, then moved back to Ohio about nine years ago.

My lovely wife is a children’s book author and is active in promoting awareness for kids and families with differences and disabilities. She is active on social media and has been blogging for 16 years. We have three headstrong girls, currently sixteen, twelve, and nine years old.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family. We love to play games (Cover Your Assets, Exploding Kittens, Monopoly, Boggle, Ticket To Ride), watch movies, and support each other in our athletic, theatrical, and social justice pursuits. My personal hobbies are triathlon, running, soccer, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, woodworking, and playing the violin.
